The Cabana (ARC provided by the author herself)

I just finished this book, The Cabana written by Joanne Crymble. This is a book about friendship and supporting each other during the ups and downs of life. I loved it!

This story follows Piper, Melissa, Jess, and Delilah. All neighborhood moms who are completely different from each other. Comparing each others lives to their own not realizing that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Melissa is a bright lawyer who is a mom of a 5 year old who is desperate to make friends and be a part of a social group.

Jess has the perfect body and is married to the neighborhood hottie, however she struggles with her body image and suffers from bulimia.

Piper is blonde and perky and has a husband who is gorgeous and is the perfect handyman. However, Piper is hiding that her husband is a raging alcoholic who is fighting his own demons. He also built the Cabana.

And then there is Delilah who is an aspiring writer but is unhappy in her marriage.

Knowing each of these women could use friendship and support, Piper starts a weekly Cabana night with wine, charcuterie, and visiting. As these friendships grow, these four women realize they can share all their darkest secrets and confide in each other knowing they are still supported and loved.

I loved this book so much. I found all the female characters completely relatable and found a piece of myself in each of these women. Everything always looks perfect on the outside, but we never know what is happening behind closed doors.

I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars.

As You Wish

This past weekend, Salt Lake City had their FanX Convention. Our version of Comic Con. My sister and I had the opportunity to meet Cary Elwes, even if for a brief few moments. We did a photo op, a selfie and had him sign my Westley Funko Pop, and attended his Q&A, where I was brave enough to ask him a question.

After this past weekend, it made me reflect on his book, As You Wish.

My sister bought me this book a few Christmases ago, signed, I remember binging this book in a few days.

When I asked Cary Elwes what inspired him to write this book, he said that he and the rest of the cast had so much fun while working on The Princess Bride. He mentioned they just laughed all the time and there were so many fond memories from making that film. So...he decided to write about it. And he wasn't alone in this endeavor....the rest of the cast helped as well.

This book is full of so many anecdotes about working with Billy Crystal, Andre The Giant, Mandy Patinkin, Director Rob Reiner and so many others.

He talks about how he broke his big toe, his training to learn Fencing, storming the castle, and surviving the pit of despair.

It's been awhile since I have read this and I have thought of picking it up again. As well as reading The Princess Bride (which I have never read).

However, As You Wish, gives such a wonderful glimpse into making a film that has become a cult classic, true wuv, and the making of the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Welcome to my book blog! I'm Sally and I'm excited to start this journey of publishing reviews of books I read and just talking about books. I am an avid reader and have been since I was a child. However, books and reading are my passions.

I am a huge book nerd and will talk about books until someone tells me to stop. I facilitate a book club in my neighborhood and am a part of a couple online book clubs. I have loved making new friends who are as big of book nerds as I am.

I have been told I should be a book reviewer because of how much I read. So I decided to put myself out there, even though I was really nervous. So here I am!

I just want to thank anyone who reads this for following me n my journey. Hopefully, it will be an exciting chapter
