I'm Behind....Reviews on Recent ARCs

Rated 4 stars on Goodreads. This ARC was provided to me by the author herself. Released on November 15, 2022.

I always love a good fairy-tale retelling and this one did not disappoint.

Cinder is a retelling of Cinderella....But in reverse.

Jessamine is already born a princess. She is already heir to the throne. She can talk to animals. Falls in love and is loved by a prince. Everything is perfect....until it isn't.

When tragedy strikes and her parents are killed, Jessamine is stripped of everything. Her title, her family, etc. This story goes on to tell us how she endures. Because it could go one way or another. And unfortunately, the story takes a bitter turn.

I loved the magical aspect of the story....talking to animals, creating potions, magical creatures, magical kingdoms, etc. The love story with the prince is sweet and romantic. Jessamine is kind of a brat but it works to her advantage and helps her survive.

A great story for readers of all ages.

Emma loses her best friend in a tragic accident and must figure out a way to pick up the pieces of her life. Telling everyone she is fine, Emma learns she is really fine. Instead of seeking help, she self medicates and feels she is deserving of punishment. After hitting rock-bottom, she realizes she won't heal unless she changes her ways.

After meeting new friends who love her unconditionally and want to help her, she struggles and perseveres to get back to a better place.....mentally and physically. She also learns to accept the love and care she is so deserving of.

"One day, you will tell your story of how overcame what you went through, and it will be someone else's survival guide." - Brene Brown

This book was so amazing, gave me all the feels, and almost broke me all at the same time. This author has such a way of writing this so you could truly feel what the characters were experiencing.

Daphne is still struggling with the grief of losing her mother to cancer and being newly divorced. She wants to move forward but isn't sure how that looks for her. In steps Henry who is perfect in every way but is struggling with his on grief......because someone he loves and is very dear to him is fighting cancer.

Grief is complicated and hard to navigate. As Henry and Daphne are working through their different stages of grief, they will also learn how weak and vulnerable as well as strong they both really are.

This book affected me as I lost my mother to breast cancer a few years ago. I have never been able to articulate my feelings in such a way as this author did. To help people understand how heartbreaking and unfair this disease is and how it is no respecter of persons

"Who knew Santa delivered before Christmas?"
"I don't just want this, I need this like Santa needs his sleigh?
"You've loved and been loved. I would never regret loving someone even if t didn't work out."

Alice wants so much for Christmas and hopefully Santa can deliver.

Axel is trouble and Alice can see it from a mile away. However, that doesn't prevent her from falling for him. Axel feels like he isn't good enough for Alice especially with the 12 year age gap and the fact that he has 2 children. But love is no respecter of persons.

After playing Santa at Alice's work holiday party, Axel falls and falls hard. But are the feelings returned? Can Axel recover from his divorce and still be happy?

I love that the female character was written as a sassy, sweet, and curvy girl. Axel was moody and vulnerable. The perfect recipe for a HEA with all the feels of a spicy Hallmark Christmas movie.
